Mmmm, grilled cheese and Voodoo Doughnuts.

Kenny loves Wendy. Wendy loves grilled cheese. Kenny and Wendy are getting married, so why not stop at the Grilled Cheese Grill to take some photos? Why not indeed. Kenny and Wendy were a blast to photograph. Having already photographed their engagement session we all definitely knew what was needed for great photographs. As the wedding day neared, weather (of course) was an issue to be prepared for. They were getting married at the Acadian Ballroom but wanted to take advantage of the surrounding neighborhoods. It was sprinkling throughout the morning and the skies were pretty gloomy. Being the weather guru that I am, I predicted that there should be a window of an hour and a half to take photos outside. I knew this by ancient techniques taught to me by Steve Jobs and the 10 different weather apps I have on the iPhone. When all the inside photos were taken and it was time to go outside, we all popped our heads out and breathed a sigh of relief. Blue skies with puffy clouds, just what the doctor ordered. We all hurriedly made a break for the car. Kenny, Wendy, her twin sister (good thing one of them had a big white dress on or I would have been in trouble) and I jumped in and headed for Peninsula Park. From there we went to the Grilled Cheese Grill and a beautiful church on Alberta. Even though they were closed, the good people at the grill let us use their bus without any hesitation. This is one of the many reasons I love living in Portland! After our outdoor romp we made our way back to the ballroom only to have it start raining again just as we stepped into the doors.Being the true Portlanders that they were, instead of having a cake they choose to have Voodoo Doughnuts as their dessert choice. The reception music soundtrack was so nostalgic, bringing me back to my awkward and awesome teenage years. It’s always great to have great clients, great music and great photographs.
