West End Wedding

On Saturday we celebrated the wedding of Korinne and Mark. Even though it rained hard most of the night, this event was full of fun, laughter and lots of love!

Wet, Windy FUN!

Most people think that sun is best for photography... this is simply not true! Sometimes the darkest days make the best shots! This afternoon I had the pleasure of spending a few hours with Jacey & Rahim around downtown Portland.

Melissa & Chase

Below are some pictures from Melissa and Chase's engagement session at Forest Park. The location was perfect and they were so fun and easy to shoot...I can't wait for their wedding at Zenith Vineyards in August!

Cait & Nathanael

What a fun day at the beach! Cait and Nathanael came out from Utah to meet us at the Oregon Coast for a dynamic engagement session. Dodging showers and wind we spent time on the sand, in the beach grass and a few miles inland! Please enjoy a few snaps below!

Michelle and Dmitri Engagement Session

One of the reasons I love wedding photography is that I get to make cool new friends! Two such people are Michelle and Dmitri. Any engagement session that starts with a couple of beers in a bar has to be good! We had a ton of fun wandering around the Mississippi area of Portland, and then down to the industrial area south of Mississippi.

The rain held off long, rare this week! With an engagement session this fun, the wedding is going to be a blast!!

Mike.

Weddings and Golf, they go hand and hand.

Anita and Heath love each other. Anita and Heath love Golf. Why not have a wedding where both can be displayed for all to see? That's exactly what they did. I traveled out to The Sandtrap, a McMenamins location out in Gearhart. We game planned to take advantage of three places, the golf course, the beach and the Sandtrap itself. It's fun to check out all the McMenamins properties. They are all so unique and all have great stories behind them. The joke of the evening was the fact that it took so long to get to this place in their lives. Anita simply said that she was picky and had to wait for the perfect guy for her and that was Heath. After the ceremony we decided to go to the beach to get some shots. Driving down the slight slope of doom to the sand, I decided not to test the off-road capabilities of the Prius and backed up conceding this battle to the beach. While shooting, two other vehicles were not so lucky and got stuck side by side right at the mouth of the entrance. It took some maneuvering and guts to get by them but Anita wielded her Subaru like a well oiled machine that it was and we got past them with no problem. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Heath and Anita and wish them the best of luck and the best of love in their marriage.

Engagement in the Gorge with Jacob, Sarah and me, Mike.

Originally we were thinking the Oregon Gardens because these guys love the outdoors. While figuring out free weekends and work schedules we decided to do it in the Gorge. Sarah and Jacob wanted some photos in front of their favorite waterfall, Wakeena along the Old Columbia Highway. It was a spectacular day with the sun beaming it's warmth in rays of yellow upon us. Taking one car out to the location we talked about everything from where they were from to cars and school. We had some great laughs and great shots. I am definitely looking forward to their wedding on Orcas Island later on in the summer. This couple interacted so naturally and their combined laughter was infectious. We had a blast!

What Happens in Vegas......

Destination weddings are great. When your destination is Vegas...well, ladies and gentleman that is turbo great. The glitz and glamor of this little big town in the middle of the desert has long attracted couples ready to take the big leap in a big way. Jaime and CJ met in Las Vegas, both celebrating their 21st birthdays, exactly 7 years from their wedding date. Meeting with Jaime and CJ, I was definitely excited to take on this photo adventure. I arrived the day before and walking out the door of the airport, Las Vegas hit me abruptly. Considering it was fifty degrees in Portland and ninety in las Vegas, that was to be expected. After picking up the rental car, which another person unwittingly stole but returned, I went to work. Scouting locations (after stopping at In N' Out Burger) and taking in the sun. The couple and I had an impromptu meeting at a slot machine and the excitement ratcheted up. The day of was perfect. It cooled down a little with clear skies. We were picked up by the bus the couple rented and we were off. This wedding day was so Vegas and continued on long into the night.
