I get a call from Andy about a month or so before the engagement session is scheduled. Having a cultural wedding, Andy and Ivy decided to take their bridal formals in lieu of their engagement session. I was definitely ok with that because if there is one thing photographers love is more time with their subject! About two weeks later I get an email from Andy wondering if we could take their formals at the Governor Hotel. Having shot countless weddings there I was really excited about all the possiblities and all the places we could go. Then I realized something and began to ponder, "Wait, you have never shot there when there wasn't a wedding, how would you gain access to all these wonderful places?". How would I indeed. I then realized that help was just an email away and Nora from Bridal Bliss had the people I should contact who had the names of the people I should contact. Everything was all set. It was funny because throughout the session many a passerby were congratulating the couple but you could see the confusion on their faces. After all, it was a Tuesday.

Beautiful Nevada!
Glowing Review
To Ben and Sara, Alisha and I could not be more thankful for the experience that we have had working with Powers Photography Studios throughout our wedding process. The way we were treated from our initial meeting all the way through our wedding was beyond reproach. We both believe it is a testament to your company policies and practices that our experience was made so special. We both have said to each other, on multiple occasions no less, that we could not have been paired with a better photographer for us than Marc. Our personalities meshed just as much if not more than style of photos that he was able to capture. He honestly felt like more like one of our close friends and part of our group than just another 'vendor' at an event. He went above and beyond to make sure that we both had everything we needed that day from him, whether that was helping us stay on track when our timeline went straight out the window, he was very concerned that we do exactly what we wanted when we wanted and was willing to be flexible and assured us we would get all the shots we wanted, managing some typical Oregon rain-breaks, dealing so discretely with a miscommunication with the Columbia River Gorge Hotel - on our behalf no less - so we could still capture wonderful pictures, and even helping Ryan and I by suggesting to us an excellent camera for our own personal use (that we did end up purchasing). His creatively and personality we truly believe will bring out exactly the memories we wanted from our day. We truly appreciated his energy, professionalism and dedication to his craft and I know we will have a lifetime of memories captured by his hard work. We can both say that Marc made our day that much more special and that much more meaningful. We were happy to reserve him a spot at our table and we would do so again anytime. To all of you a special thank you. Ryan and Alisha M. |

A Flair for the dramatic
I met this couple in the winter of 09. They were in from Idaho where they lived. I think it was the coldest day of the winter because I remember sitting down in the Starbucks and speaking gibberish like Mushmouth from Fat Albert for about 5 minutes because my lips were frozen. After we got over that initial hurdle we were off and running. I knew right away that we were going to have fun on their wedding day. They were so relaxed and a joy to talk to. They said that out of the ordinary was fine with them and I took that to heart. So, wedding day comes around and you couldn't ask for a better day. Sunny with clouds and semi cool weather. As you can see in these photos, out of the ordinary was more than fine with them. Awesome.

Melanie and Nick - Portland Engagement session
Mel and Nick - crazy fun!
Getting married this summer, their engagement session was a fusion one which means that the final DVD will have video as well as images - and it was great fun to do! Marc shot the video, I shot the stills.
Here are my faves of the day:

Tara, Trent & Truman
So much fun!... We hit the waterfront early Sunday morning for an engagement session and took advantage of the beautiful morning light! Tara and Trent asked if it'd be ok to wake Truman up (from the car) and include him in a few photos. As you can see, Truman was a natural in front of the lens and loved every minute!
